VMIX Finishes European and Asian Rollout
VMIX, maker of a software-as-a-service video platform, has expanded localized video storage and processing for its European and Asian clients in only 60 days, thanks to a little help from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The company is no stranger to AWS, having used it for its U.S.-based storage since early 2008. In the last three years, VMIX's needs have scaled up, so that it now uses over 100TB of storage and manages over 22 million objects with Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3).
VMIX built out its service by using Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon Elastic Load Balancing, and Amazon Relational Database Services.
"The scalability that AWS provides made us confident that we could extend global services in the cloud, and that AWS would be there to assist us," says Phil Chen, director of systems engineering at VMIX. "As we planned this new deployment, the AWS team offered technical guidance, along with design and operational best practices, every step of the way."
The company estimates that going with AWS has multiplied its platform's processing speed by four, as has multiplied its capacity and storage, as well.
"Now that the origin of video delivery is available in Europe and Asia, our global clients can benefit from faster upload and encode services," says Chen.
