Univision Expands Digital Content Footprint, Launches "Udisea"

Beginning December 2, Udisea will feature original scripted web series and short-form videos developed exclusively for Univision

MIAMI(03 Dec 2015)

Univision Digital, the digital division of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), which includes the leading digital platforms serving Hispanic America, today announced the launch of “Udisea<http://www.univision.com/udisea>,” a new digital video platform targeted to multicultural, Spanish-speaking millennials. Available beginning December 2nd, the platform will be accessible through Univision.com, the leading Spanish language website in the U.S., and as a YouTube channel. Content will also live natively across social media channels such as Facebook and Instagram.

Udisea will feature premium, short-form video content developed exclusively for Univision by top talent from the U.S. and Latin America, including original web series and various types of scripted entertainment formats in Spanish. The various titles will explore trends that define life on the internet today, from chasing romance on Tinder, to the hopes of an aspiring YouTuber – today’s millennial celebrity.

Udisea is also home to Univision Digital’s exclusive romantic comedy, “Tenemos Que Hablar” (We Need to Talk), which premiered in October 2015 and has generated more than two million views across Univision.com<http://www.univision.com/>, YouTube, and Facebook.

“Hispanics and multicultural millennials over-index in the consumption of digital, mobile, and social content, and our research shows that more than half of Univision users are going online to view videos that are different from what they see on TV,” said Isaac Lee, Chief News and Digital Officer for Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) and CEO of Fusion. “With the launch of Udisea we are providing this vast and digital-avid audience a fresh, new platform they can call their own, where they will enjoy original scripted videos and web series created especially for them.”

Udisea is the latest addition to UCI’s portfolio of digital properties targeted to millennial, multicultural audiences, which includes FUSION, El Rey Network, Flama, and The Root. The launch is part of the Company’s aggressive strategy to reach younger, digitally-engaged users wherever they are consuming content and solidify its leading position among media companies serving multicultural audiences in the U.S.
