Telestream Wirecast 4.2 Supports Skype and Google Hangouts
Telestream has upgraded Wirecast, its live streaming production software, to version 4.2, adding a virtual camera output feature for Wirecast for Windows. This lets any device or software that takes a camera source, such as Skype and Google Hangouts, pick up Wirecast.
Wirecast lets users capture and encode live streams for broadcast to multiple servers and platforms. This version supports a greater number of video capture devices, such as the Matrox VS4 multi-channel video capture card, Blackmagic Thunderbolt-based Intensity Extreme and UltraStudio 3D devices, and the AJA Io XT device and AJA Kona LHi capture card.
Video gamers will appreciate the inclusion of custom canvas sizes, as well as the support for the AVerMedia Game Broadcaster HD card. This lets them capture game output up to 1080p.
Flash libraries have been tweaked to improve quality and performance, and Telestream has added support for Apple OX Mountain Lion (10.8).
