Kaltura Creates a Guide for Video Management on Campus
Educational institutions aren't sure how to deal with the growth of video content, and need guidance on what to do about it, says Ron Yekutiel, chairman and CEO of the online video platform Kaltura. To meet that need, Kaltura has created a guide entitled "Educational Institutions: The Opportunity and the Challenge of an Online Video Strategy," available for free download (registration required). Kaltura announced the guide today at Educause 2013, held in Anaheim, California.
Kaltura has made deep inroads with educational institutions, and has years of experience with campus video management systems to share. For many colleges and universities, says Kenneth C. Green of The Campus Computing Project, who prepared the guide, creating a video management strategy is an after-the-fact necessity, rather than a plan to get ahead of the curve. Green notes that fewer than a third of surveyed campus CIOs have a strategic plan for video management. The guide is intended to help educational institutions deal with online video in a way that's both cost-effective and future-proof, notes Yekutiel.
Contents of the guide include an overview of online video challenges that educational institutions face, an interview with Eric Denna (the CIO for the Utah System of Higher Education), profiles that show how leading colleges and universities are tackling the challenge, and a glossary of related terms.
