InstaVR Launches Publishing Compatibility with HTC VIVE, Enabling Companies to Create High Quality Long-Form VR Video Applications

Toyota High System becomes the first customer to leverage new functionality, creating a 360-degree interactive VR office tour for recruiting purposes

San Francisco, CA(22 Feb 2017)

InstaVR, Inc., a virtual reality (VR) authoring, publishing, and analysis company, announced today the availability of single-click HTC VIVE output capabilities. By providing this functionality, InstaVR enables customers to create continuous long-term playback VR experiences of the highest quality.

To date, VR experiences created for mobile handheld devices such as Android, iOS and Gear VR have been limited in duration and quality. Due to intense battery consumption and size constraints, producing and distributing high-quality 360-degree VR movies of 15 minutes or longer at 36 Mbps has not been possible. This has limited VR’s ability to meet the needs of companies looking to use the technology for employee training, company communication, and immersive education.

InstaVR addresses these needs through its new publish-to-HTC VIVE capabilities, along with a Gear VR specific delivery solution for longer VR videos. With HTC VIVE specifically using a wired connection, the VR application can be experienced continuously without needing to re-charge a battery. By utilizing the InstaVR platform, 360-degree videos in excess of 25 minutes can now be produced and distributed to HTC VIVE and Gear VR owners.

The first enterprise InstaVR customer to leverage this technology is TOYOTA HIGH SYSTEM, Incorporated (fully-owned by TOYOTA INDUSTRIES CORPORATION). To increase interest in working for the company, TOYOTA created a series of high quality, immersive office tours specifically for their recruiting team.

Mr. Osawa Takehito, Solution Sales Department, who introduced the use of InstaVR and HTC VIVE to TOYOTA HIGH SYSTEM, said: “Initially, we created a ‘VR Office Tour’ for enabling candidates to virtually visit our offices using InstaVR’s GearVR output feature. By supporting HTC VIVE, it is now also possible for our app users to watch for a longer time with higher picture quality. TOYOTA can broaden the range of VR experiences we produce by utilizing HTC Vive output capability.”
