Haivision Releases the Makito X HEVC Rugged Encoder for Low Latency Video Transport in the Most Demanding ISR Environments

Military-grade appliance features a ruggedized MIL-STD-810G/DO-160G compliant form factor with full KLV/CoT metadata support

WASHINGTON D.C.(30 May 2018)

Haivision, a market leader in video networking and streaming solutions, today announced the availability of the Makito X HEVC Rugged Encoder, a military-grade appliance designed for transporting high-quality, low latency video for situational awareness in the most demanding Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) environments.

The Makito X HEVC Rugged features a compact and ruggedized MIL-STD-810G/DO-160G form factor with MISB-compliant Key-Length-Value (KLV) and cursor-on-Target (CoT) metadata support. Utilized for mission operations on airborne, naval and ground-based platforms, the Makito X HEVC Rugged adheres to MISB and STANAG specifications as well as AVC/H.264 and HEVC/H.265, SMPTE and MPEG industry standards for downstream interoperability. The Makito X HEVC Rugged can be deployed in extended temperature range environments and is equipped with a proven rugged chassis to ensure reliable connectivity.

The Makito X HEVC Rugged is a dual-input appliance with two HEVC and four H.264 encoding engines capable of encoding HD video at up to 1080p60. With excellent picture quality at low bitrates and the lowest HEVC encoding latency in the industry, the Makito X HEVC Rugged encoder is ideally suited for mission-critical ISR applications.

“The Makito X HEVC Rugged is built on Haivision’s extensive experience in providing interoperable, high quality video solutions that meet the most demanding challenges of military and ISR applications that support situational awareness,” said John Leipper, director of product strategy for defense at Haivision.

The Makito X HEVC Rugged is the newest appliance in Haivision's portfolio of rugged, compliant and low-latency video solutions for ISR that deliver standards-based and interoperable FMV from any sensor to any operator, analyst or decision maker, on any device. Designed to power applications for ISR to deliver situational awareness and extract intelligence from motion imagery, Haivision products meet strict military and interoperability standards to ensure compliance of video streams in the harshest environments.

Haivision will showcase the Makito X HEVC Rugged and ISR video solutions at CANSEC from May 30-31 in Ottawa, Canada and Eurosatory from June 11-15 in Paris, France. For more information on the Makito X HEVC Rugged, visit haivision.com.
