Gartner Updates Magic Quadrant, Praises Kaltura, Panopto, Qumu
Gartner has released the 2014 version of its magic quadrant for enterprise video content management. The quadrant is a graph broken into four sections, with the X axis measuring "completeness of vision" and the Y axis measuring "ability to execute." This year, three companies achieved top placement in the Leaders square: Kaltura, Panopto, and Qumu.
This marks a change from last year's quadrant, when Gartner called only Kaltura and Qumu leaders. All three saw their positions shift positively toward the upper right corner.
Enterprise video content management is a growth area: This year's quadrant rates 17 providers, while the 2013 quadrant included only 12. The analysts who created the report note that "market consolidation remains very likely."

"Clients are generally looking to acquire products via SaaS or hybrid models. The exceptions to this are clients that are concerned about the security and sensitivity of the videos they intend to post, although security is increasingly well-provisioned by SaaS and cloud video content management vendors. About a third of the enterprise references that vendors provided for this Magic Quadrant use hybrid installations, and a third use only SaaS or the cloud," the report notes.
