Broadband OTT Service YipTV Achieves Significant Milestone as Content Lineup for Subscribers Surpasses 100 Live Channels

Programming from around the world includes sports, entertainment, lifestyle, news, music and more from service that enables subscribers to watch 17 free live TV channels

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.(18 Jan 2016)

Broadband OTT television service YipTV, which allows subscribers to watch 17 live TV channels free, said today it has reached the major milestone of offering over 100 live channels of easily affordable TV programming only six months after launch.

YipTV went live in early May with 50 channels, added another 21 by July, surpassed the 90-channel threshold when 10 FilmBox channels were added in September and now has passed the 100 mark with the addition of channels such as Canal 22, France 24, Tastytrade, ShowBusiness TV, Fix & Foxi, Heroes Adventure, Motor TV, Euronews English, Euronews Portugese, Euronews Spanish, Motors TV, the Outdoor Sport Channel and Vibrant TV.

FilmBox brand channels available to Yip TV subscribers include FightBox, DocuBox, FashionBox, FastNFunBox, 360 TuneBox, MadscreenBox, FilmBox Arthouse, FilmBox Russia, Kino Polska International and Kino Polska Muzyka.

No other provider of Over the Top (OTT) television in the United States offers as many channels, as affordably or with the diversity of viewing options that YipTV does today. It expects to keep adding new channels before the end of the year as it negotiates with content owners to bring subscribers channels from India, China and elsewhere in Asia.

YipTV targets the more than 40 million foreign-born people living in the U.S. with TV programming to which they’re accustomed in their home countries, so it has been steadily aggregating entertainment, sports, news, lifestyle, music and other TV channels not typically seen in the U.S. YipTV is available for viewing on subscribers’ smartphones and 17 of its channels are always free.

Channels range from Freckle TV for children to Teleromantica to beIN Sports to Mi Musica to The Church Channel to NewsMax.  (The full lineup of YipTV channels can be seen at http://www.yiptv.com/live-tv/index.php/en/tv-channels/).

Early on, YipTV’s channel lineup leaned heavily toward Spanish-speaking subscribers with channels from South and Central America and the Caribbean, but recent additions have enriched its diversity with more channels from Europe.

“We still have a way to go with our programming from India and China, but we’re nearing the point where we can literally say YipTV offers TV content that appeals to any subscriber,” said CEO Michael Tribolet. “And with our emphasis on mobile, subscribers can view YipTV’s channels on any Internet-accessible device anywhere at any time.”

YipTV’s strategy to distribute live-channel TV content from outside the U.S. to subscribers viewing programming on mobile devices -- including their smartphones -- instead of traditional TV sets is supported by market research done by Horowitz Research, a leading provider of consumer market research with an expertise in media and multicultural consumers.

“Our 2015 Multiplatform Content and Services study shows that, on average, multicultural consumers spend more time than their white, non-Hispanic counterparts viewing content via OTT, and are more likely than whites to stream to a mobile device,” notes Adriana Waterston, Senior Vice President for Insights and Strategy at Horowitz Research. “This includes … audiences who enjoy in-language and international programming. We think that the market is ripe for more robust OTT offerings with high-quality content for these audiences.”

YipTV is available over any type of wired or wireless broadband connection, and is the first provider of personalized, low-cost TV content that eliminates the need for cable or satellite TV subscriptions. The service uses Internet-based delivery technology to provide affordable access to its wide range of international channels at only $14.99 a month, with no credit card required at sign up, no long-term service commitments and no contracts.

Subscribers sign up for YipTV via the web at www.YipTV.com, then download apps for iOS or Android devices from the Apple AppStore or GooglePlay. In addition to Android- or iOS-enabled smart devices, YipTV also lets subscribers use a Smart TV, laptop or desktop computer. It also can be viewed on a traditional TV screen using an Apple TV or a Google Chromecast device.
